Denix G1083G 1862 Griswold & Gunnison Confederate revolver

Made from about 1862 to 1865 and was used thought the expansion into the west after the war.

This Federal copy of the cap and ball M1851 & 1860 Colts was made under contract to the Richmond Bureau for the Confederacy, Samuel Griswold had set up a cotton gin factory in Griswoldville in Georgia and by 1862 he was turning out revolvers for the cause, records say that Griswold & Gunnison turned out more revolvers then any other gunsmith for the confederacy through the war.

Though the town of Griswoldville was said to be the first town that Sherman’s troops burned on his march to the sea.
